Texas should maybe run some hurry-up so Alabama can't make the substitutions.  I think Saban said Cody has to be under 365 or something in order play 3rd downs (or passing situations).  Should try to run the ball following pass plays and try to do it quickly so Cody doesn't have time to roll out there.

Colt is accurate, but they just don't have quite the play-makers they've had before (at least not consistently).  Shipley is the man, but beyond him, you just never know what you'll get at the WR position.  They are deep, but that has almost hurt them because no one has really stepped up to join Shipley.

Texas signed 7 running backs in the 07 and 08 classes, 5 of which were 5.8 or higher on Rivals...how is it that Texas can bring in 7 backs, none of whom can run the ball better than McCoy?  If they lose this game, it will be because those 7 guys were a group "bust".

No one gives a flying fuck about Texas and their Mythical National Recruiting Titles.  :)  Except Texas......

Honestly I don't think they even care.  They do care that none of their 57 running backs can run the ball.  I'm still shocked that they haven't put the full court press on Seastrunk.

Somebody doesn't watch much. Especially the SECCG.

Hard to see substitutions on TV. Its much easier to see substitutions when you are at the game...wait, nevermind.

When he is in on passing downs...like the SECCG he runs after the QB, but never catches them.

He is good at doing what he does.  He fills the middle.  Nothing more noting less.  CBS made him bigger than life last year when he was put in on goal line situations.  Add the blocks against Tenn (which have been well documented in this thread) and you get an over hyped TV character.  He is a lot like William Perry.  Perry was an average at best pro, but got a ton of pub because of his size and goal line play.
Yeah, and I wouldn't expect him to run after the QB and actually catch him. Its kind of like when a dog chases a car. But anyways, I don't see him working out in the NFL unless he stays serious about strength and conditioning. If he continuously improves, I think he will be fine. I don't know about the whole legend thing, though. Like many here have said, he does his job well relative to what he is and what he is asked to do.

I think he's going to have to get his conditioning in order to be very successful in the NFL, but, regardless of that Cody will be taken by the end of the second round.  In my honest opinion, Marcel Dareus is a better defensive lineman than Cody.  If Cody is invited to Indy, and I'm assuming that he will be, he better not use Andre Smith's Agent and he's going to need to start hitting the weight room extremely hard after the Championship Game.  Because, if only pushes up 225lbs. 5 to 10 times, he'll fall down the draft boards some.

HA...good one.

Honestly, Lache isnt real interested in staying home. But to hear the Texas guys I work with tell it, "they just don't want him"....horseshit. Nothing annoys me more than a team claiming that the reason they can't get Recruit XYZ, is only because they don't want him. Texas DID put the press on Lache. He just isnt real interested in Tx. Later, Cody was talking about being on track to graduate in May and said he still needed two more classes. Somebody asked him what his degree was in. He paused, stammered for a few seconds, looked up and smiled and then muttered something under his breath.

“I keep forgetting it … consumer science, I think,” Cody said.

Asked his first memory of Saban, Cody cracked, “I really thought he would have been bigger than he was. I was like, ‘Man, this guy’s a midget.’

Quote
He said one of the advantages (of being so big) was being able to intimidate people with his size.

“That lets you do a lot more things that short people can’t do,” he said laughing. “I have to help coach Saban on and off the bus.”

Kind of like Tyrik "I don't know what my GPA is" Rollison who made a 13 on his ACT the first time he took it.

Son of a fucking BITCH.  You have almost perfected the patented BG03 "Oh yeah, well what about..." defense that has served him (not so) well for many, many years.  (It's also been very poorly imitated by **name withheld ** on this board, and characterized as the Pee Wee Herman 'I know you are but what am I' defense)

Typical BG03 tactic.

Jimmy Johns sells drugs on campus.  BG03's response?  "Oh yeah, well what about Robert Baker?"  Ignoring the fact, of course, that Baker was a grandfather twice over by the time Johns came around.

Bama player flunks out.  BG03's response?  "Oh yea, well what about Brent Fullwood?  He never went to class. And James Brooks couldn't read."  Ignoring the fact that Fullwood was last seen on campus when Reagan was president and James Brooks hasn't carried a football in anger since before the leisure suit went out of style (except at Bama weddings, obviously).

If he couldn't immediately think of an instance from the distant past, he would fabricate one.

Bama pays overweight sloppy ass lineman.  BG03's response?  "Oh yeah? Well what about Auburn? You know they're doing it too. Everybody does. You can't tell me they don't do exactly the same thing."  Ignoring the fact, of course, that there is no evidence whatsoever to corroborate his story.

It's the most pathetic and weak of all diversionary tactics.  If you have the first ball in your sack, just address the issue.  Cody's monumentally stupid statement has nothing to do with whether Rollison went to class, fucked a prairie dog or painted pictures of Shakira on his nipples.  Rollison isn't the issue here.  Dumbfuck Cody is.

Don't be BG03.  The guy was intelligent and made some compelling arguments. You have the capacity to do so, too, but not when you dip off into ** name withheld **, **name withheld ** and BG03 dumbassity.

I highlighted the important part.  He took it again and had a passing score.  Now if he could just actually go to class now.  But, this topic isn't about him, it's about a player that's still on the SPuat team, but apparently doesn't go to his classes....

I don't know if I would cast stones if I were you. Sociology-gate ring a bell? Look, the bottom line is, football players at football universities are given straight up cakewalk schedules. Is he a fat dumbass? Sure. While the NYT piece on AU was probably accurate, what they fail to notate in there, is it would be exactly the same if they did the same investigation on any other school. USC isn't exactly loaded with Rhodes Scholars. Neither is LSU. As long as everything is within NCAA rules, I could give a shit less what any Alabama, AU, LSU, etc player takes.

Holy Shit, RWS.

Stop trying to defend Cody.  It's ridiculous that a person could be in college and not know the answer to "what is your major?".

Hell, even a sophomore in high school could immediately give you an answer if you were to ask them what they were going to major in.

My point was simple, and valid. The piece by the NYT times was stupid because it simply revealed what EVERY major football school does. Pointing out Sociology-gate wasn't so much meant to say something negative about AU, it was more so about reminding somebody that football players aren't scholars, and not all of AU's players are all that bright either. Schools put their players in bullshit classes to keep them eligible. Everything that AU did was legal.

Cody is in a bullshit class, because obviously, the man isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, and we want him to play football. No different than anybody else, and I don't have an issue with that. For that matter, I'm of the opinion that thinks college players should get paid something for the millions of dollars that they help the programs profit.

Aside from the obvious dumbassery of this statement that has already been addressed...

"What's your GPA?" - Not everyone knows the answer to that question off the top of their heads.

"What's your major?" - We still catch hell about the Sociology thing (which was highly overblown and made out to be something that it wasn't, but that's an argument for another day), but shit, at least those guys were involved in their classes enough to know their major was Sociology.

The fact that you equate those two shows that you not only have never been to Tuscaloosa, but have also never been to school there.
