Eric Mack flip flopping
« on: September 21, 2009, 12:49:04 PM »
Apparently his visit this weekend has swayed him back.

“After this weekend, I think Auburn is back on top,”

Although he's still "committed" to South Carolina.  He's planning on official visits to SC, UNC, and Clemson.  My guess is he may commit and de-commit to all five schools before it's over.  If he leaves the state (which is a long shot since he has a kid?), we have a great chance.  He named us his leader back in June, and apparently feels that way again.

He's the second highest rated guard by ESPN, it would be really nice to get him on board.

Bammers are nervous about Craig Sanders and Corey Grant as well...with good reason...

No, no, no....Coarch Sabbin actually encourages his commits to go ahead and take their other visits.

According to reports on all the premium sites and writers, Sanders has been in "heavy" contact with the Auburn staff over the last few weeks.  Of course a switch is very hard to get, but definitely seems to be on the board with Sanders.

We shall see.... LONG way till February yet..

If Eric Mack does decide to go out of state, he'll be an Auburn Tiger.

IMO, Auburn has a better chance to sway Grant than they do Sanders.  I just feel that Craig Sanders takes his commitment very serious and that he's been a bammer lean for a really long time, just the fact that Auburn was able to stick it's foot in the door and actually make Craig think about it for a while and now they're still making him think about it...somewhat, makes me feel even better about this staff's recruiting abilities.  If I remember correctly it was either Coach Trooper or Coach Luper that said that if we want you, we won't give up until that ink hits the paper, we don't know the meaning of the word no (or something to that affect).

Grant?  Why do we want to give a scholarship to a kick off return specialist?

Just kidding....maybe the thought of being our next Fannin will start to look more exciting than being a "returner" at Alabama, which is what he was sold.   :bs:

A little useless 411 on Sanders.  I've seen him play twice the last two years and made it a point to get on the field and see how big he really is.  He's a legit 6'4" 240.  Strong as a damn ox and can straight line run...fast.  Not so much with the side to side and quickness.  He plays at the 1A level and unfortunately, Ariton only has 16 kids out this year so they've taken some ass kickings already.  Haven't heard much about him but I'm going to see him play in a couple of weeks.

Had always heard he was a lifelong Bama fan.  He did an interview a few weeks ago on our local sports talk show and said he grew up a huge Gaytor fan but has gone to more Troy games than anything else because of being so close.  My feeling after the interview was that he could possibly be swayed to go elsewhere if he were impressed enough.  Florida for sure.  I'm just not sure what kind of prospect he really is because of the talent level at 1A.  As I said with Anthony Gulley, whose Brantley teams de-fucking-stroyed Ariton, no way to tell how that will prepare him for D1 SEC competition.

Isn't Sanders their next "Jack" linebacker?

No way no how he decommits from Bama.  Saban's prized position is the Jack and they usually get drafted high.  (Julius Peterson - 1st round).

Quite honestly...and I'm not saying this because he's a Bammie commit...I really can't say he's ready for SEC competition.  Even he admits that in an interview.  A lot of people down here aren't sold on the guy.  He punishes the crappy teams and disappears against the better 1A schools.  Like I said, the guy can flat out run from point A to point B, but quickness ain't his forte. LB at the SEC level would not be a good fit in my opinion.

Give him a few years.

It's similar to the Milliner kid.  When you have measurables like that, all they need is a little bit of experience and coaching.  They might not become world beaters like their 40 yard dash time indicates, but they have the potential to be great players.

Whether or not that should equal stars on recruiting sites is up to the subscribers.

I will say this from up close and personal experience.  The gorund fucking shakes when he gets it going.  One game I was watching, I was standing at the fence when this one guy caught a pass and was headed to paydirt.  Sanders tracked his ass down from across the field (Literally a 50 yard run) and caught him on the 10.  He hit the guy and planted him.  Separated shoulder, out for the year.  I could actually hear and feel the ground shake as he tracked him down.  He's got some serious natural athletic ability but believe it or not, I'd really see him playing at fullback on the next level.
