Yesterday's news I know, but I didn't see it posted.  I bet this will make Tarheel a happy man!  ;)

Caroline Kennedy to seek Clinton's Senate seat
Dec 15 03:25 PM US/Eastern
By MICHAEL GORMLEY
Associated Press Writer

ALBANY, N.Y (AP) - A person close to the discussions says Caroline Kennedy will seek the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Clinton.

Kennedy has told Democratic Gov. David Paterson she wants the job should Clinton be confirmed as secretary of state for President-elect Barack Obama.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity Monday because neither Kennedy nor Paterson have acknowledged she is seeking the position.

If appointed by Paterson, Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy, would hold the seat once occupied by her late uncle, Robert F. Kennedy.

Other Democrats seeking Paterson's nod include New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

McCain: Caroline Kennedy Would Be 'Wise Choice' For Senate   Woah and you have to wonder why his campaign was miserable :(

Just when I think it can't get worse on the political front for me and my fellow conservatives, and we are going to catch a breather.......BAM!  Another stupid Kennedy.

I thought that this was the HEIGHT of irony when I heard this news and all of the Democrats praising this possible decision.

If 'The Blind Governor' picks her for the-Bitch-from-Hell's Senate replacement not ONE DAMN ONE of them has ANY credibility in claiming that Sarah Palin has no experience for high office (especially if she runs again in 2012).

Of course we know that they have no credibility, but as soon as the MSM spin machine gets finished with it, we will be in the minority in our way of thinking (if we aren't already) and their credibility will be rock solid.

I meant to add that what McCain says never suprises me when it comes to his fellow Senators.  He's been there far too long and played the political game far too long.  Senators might say some mildly critical things about each other from time to time but when the cameras are off they're all about kissing each others asses.

Not that I'm a huge fan of the sell-out "conservative columnist" Kathleen Parker (who, shat in the proverbial hat with me after posting the wildly, inaptly-named article "Heresies and Other Truths"...which some of you Libertarians might actually be in agreeance...link: http://townhall.com/columnists/KathleenParker/2008/11/19/heresies_and_other_truths) but she finally got around to begrudgingly writing something to defend Sarah Palin as a choice for VP in comparison to Caroline Kennedy as a 'choice' for the Senate.

It is good to see that TigersX was ahead of the "conservative" commentators in calling out this 'choice' as the hypocritical selection that it is.

This is an excerpt from Townhall.com, as usual all emphasis is my own:

Quote
The Media's Double Standard on Resumes
by Kathleen Parker
Friday, December 19, 2008

WASHINGTON -- It is a legitimate question: Why is the resume-thin Caroline Kennedy being treated seriously as a prospective appointee to the U.S. Senate when the comparatively more-qualified Gov. Sarah Palin received such a harsh review?

It is legitimate, at least, to those inclined to see apples and oranges as essentially the same.

Some of the differences between the two women benefit the pro-Palin argument, but the underlying premise of the debate is flawed. Though they both are women, the important distinction is the power differential of the respective offices being sought.

There can be little debate that Palin, as a governor and former mayor, has the superior political resume. More to the point, she was duly elected to both of those positions and has enjoyed an 80 percent approval rating as governor.

Her biography is familiar to all sentient beings, so there's no need to belabor it here. Suffice to say, she worked hard to get from Wasilla High to the governor's mansion.

Not so Kennedy, who, upon her marriage to Edwin Schlossberg, never changed her name. The girl-child of Camelot, Kennedy was to the political manner born and heiress to a famous brand. And though she undoubtedly has worked hard to become a lawyer, education-reform fundraiser, author and mother (none small feats), she hasn't had to press the flesh and fashion a national identity only from her own raw materials.

Suddenly, after a lifetime shunning publicity -- one of her charms -- Kennedy is a likely U.S. senator solely on the basis of having decided that she'd like that quite a lot.
...

The full article for those interested in reading what amounts to the rest of Ms. Parker's drek:

I am of the opinion that one probably has to have a little more experience to do the day to day job of a senator than you do as vice president.  Now of course the caveat with that is in case something happens to the President and you have to immediately take over office.  To me though, as far as the day to day duties I would that think that a senator needs a lot of experience.  With my opinion being stated I still find it wild that anyone can praise this as a good choice. Sarah Palin, a mayor and a governor, Caroline Kennedy......give me a minute, I will come up with something........ummmm......oh, yeah, she has done nothing other than be a Kennedy.
