Alfred Hitchcock Presents
« on: April 22, 2024, 05:34:29 PM »
Been watching this for well over a week on LiveTV. It ran for seven seasons surpassing the Andy Griffith Show in episodes and many of the same actors appear in episodes of both series including Francis Bavier (Bee), Robert Emhardt (stranger in a hurry), Howard McNear (Floyd), Joanna Moore (outshoots Andy), Mary Grace Canfield (Thelma Lou's cousin), Josie Lloyd (niece to Helen?), Howard Morris (Ernest T.), Michael J. Pollard (cousin Virgil) and Ellen Corby, (head of theft ring)

Naturally the stories are well dated, some very good, others just lame but they were very entertaining when they were first introduced and it's an easy watch at bedtime.

Others of note: Brian Keith, Peter Falk, Alan Napier, Raymond Bailey, Dick York, Walter Matthau and many others you will no doubt recognize.

Watched one last night that was more of a dark comedy starring Harry Morgan (Col. Potter) and Jackie Coogan (Uncle Fester)

Most of the episodes are mildly suspenseful with murder, mayhem and scheming criminal behavior the overriding theme paired with a nice twist at the end.

Correction Jmar. Joanna Moore is not the actress who outshot Andy. Peggy was more his love interest. The character of Karen Moore played by Gail Davis was Thelma Lou’s cousin who was the champion skeet shooter.

Something really strange is going on with your TV, jmar. You might want to move. It sounds as if you may be in…
the Twilight zone.

Most of the actors;possibly all, that you mentioned should not be doing live TV.

It has to be  against Actor’s Guild regulations to do live TV after you are dead.

You are correct sir.
Got totally offtrack trying to recall the dame from the reunion episode as Andy really had a thing for blondes.

Have seen Raymond Bailey (Milton Drysdale) in at least three episodes and he was very good in non-comedic roles as was William Shatner (James T. Kirk) in another. Shatner actually had a nice flowing delivery back then instead of that ridiculous herky jerky speaking voice he eventually adopted. Also seems that it was quite fashionable for male stars with early baldness to sport toupees back in the fifties and continues to this day.
