Maybe he just means, for someone not invested and claims to not watch Auburn football, maybe you should not detail the issues that you didn’t actually watch.
It's like a trainwreck. You don't want to look, but then you do. You vomit at the carnage and bloody body parts. You try again not to look, but you hope it wasn't as bad as you thought. So you glance again. And the vomit boils up.
I'm invested in Auburn. Always have been, always will be. I watched one offensive and defensive series yesterday, hoping that all the beaver talk meant something.
I got torture porn instead. And there was a clueless rodent standing on the sidelines with it's paw up it's ass. I didn't have to see any more than that. I knew exactly what it was going to be.
When the debacle was over, I read what he said, heard what a few others I respect had to say. I watched his post-game press conference where the beave did what he's always done. Sanctimoniously claim credit for whatever went right and point fingers everywhere else at the things that didn't.
If he hadn't thrown himself on the martyr pile and said he was too busy recruiting to bother with bowl preparation? Maybe he doesn't get as many ass mentions. But that? "Give me credit for the things I've done so well, Lord, but absolve me of all this other crap that wasn't my fault because I was so busy......" That grated on me in a bad, bad way.
Name another Auburn coach who would have said anything as self-serving as that? Shug? Barfield? Dye? Tuberville? Chizik? Gus? Maybe Hatband. "I was too busy buying Botox..." But he's the only one. Not even Tiny Tot would have said anything remotely like that. It was self-serving. "Look at the good thing I did!!! Other mean people did that bad thing over there..." It's infuriating.
Auburn deserves better than what he is, has always been, and will always be.
So. Am I watching AU football? No. Why should I if the "head coach" isn't either. Do I still care? Wish I didn't. But I do.
Don't like it? Don't care. Look at this great thing I did!!
