Sports editors no longer exist in any real capacity.

And I think we just got the new nickname. PThrone.

Scrimmage intel from a non-insider who scoured the interwebz:

1. Holden looked best throwing.
2. Robby had impressive plays.
3. Both threw touchdowns. 1 to Shorter, the other to either Mardner or Hooks, mixed reports.
4. Thorne had barely misses (2).
5. Alston had 3 plays of 10+ yards, 1 of which he took to the crib from 50-60 out.
6. The offense was humming the first half & defense took over the 2nd half.
7. Huey opted for up tempo for the first half, slowed it down for the 2nd to see execution, obviously did not go as well.
8. Wanted to trim it down to 2 QBs, and had an idea of which 2 before the scrimmage. Saw some things that are making him 2nd guess.
9. Battie, even with turf toe, is explosive. Think he got several chunk plays.
10. Pass rush is much improved thanks to Sings and McLeod.
11. Larry Nixon outshined others creating negative plays.

I don’t know that I have ever been this excited for the season to start. Hopefully there is a justification by the product on the field when it gets here.

My hairdresser’s one legged cousin has a friend who knows someone who was at the scrimmage. They said Thorne had two TDs missed because the WRs were just OOB. And two dropped. So it sounds like Thorne is almost there.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

In your opinion, how do PThrone and Geriner compare with Ashford as far as running is concerned, off of broken plays and in open field?
I'm excited about the offense knowing we can run the ball effectively even with turf toe. Seems our wide receiver's are talented, just a bit raw. Guessing our more experienced corners could be pressuring them to the boundaries.

I’m not sure in the SEC, but based off tape, they both look as serviceable as Stidham was running when they need to. Holden might be an almost clone with his arm talent. Robby playing up to his ability is a no brainer, and could bring another Heisman to Auburn.

What surprised me was the amount of injuries the WR corps had (Camden, Javarious, & Malcolm).

I still think in the end it will be:
1.) Thorne
2.) Holden
3.) Robby (he will play every game either way)

Folks starting to report today that Thorne has been named QB1.

Was talking with GH and GF earlier on this.  (You know, the cool people) I thought that unless Thorne came in and stink, stank, stunk it up, he was a no brainer for the nod.

While nobody is/was talking about him for the Heisman, he's got way more experience, had decent success, and pretty good numbers overall.  And all in a P5 conference.

Gurrnurr has zero experience, and I didn't want to rest our hopes on Ashford improving, which he needed to do a shit ton of.

We have 3 "gimme's" to make sure he's the man, and in at least 2 of those, the others should get some good work in.

Definitely think we'll see them all play at some point in the first quarter of the schedule.  Maybe ol Hugh goes full mad scientist and puts Thorne and Ashford out there together for some good ol eye-candy/trickeration/pick your awful broadcaster cliche.

Works for me.

On that note, I find it almost comical when you constantly hear analysts say that teams will play it close to the vest, when they face an inferior opponent.  Don't want to show what they've got.

Bull shit.  Run your offense.  If you see the opportunity to pull a fast one, do it.  It just gives future opponents that much more to have to scheme against.

Rest easy, hombre:

But the QB situation is done. We won't see anymore rotation there, Freeze said.
