Way Too Early Roster Look
« on: February 08, 2023, 03:39:13 PM »
I pulled up the current roster, and yes, it looks like most of the port hole guys, and quite a few H.S. signees are on campus.

Of note, the linebacker room got a real shot in the arm with the additions of DeMario Tolan from LSU, and Austin Keys from Ole Miss.  Much needed experience.  Between those two, and guys like Cam Riley, Wesley Steiner and Desmond Tisdol, we should be able to put a formidable group out there.  Any injuries, and we may be in a world of shit.

Defensive backs?  Look, I know exactly squat about DB’s, and even less about football in general.  But, ear regardless, that room is F’n LOADED!  We have talent, experience, numbers etc.  Easily the best group in the program, and maybe the best at Auburn in a long, long time.

On the D-line, I don’t know how good we’ll be, but it won’t be for lack of trying by this staff.  Between the H.S. signees and the port holers, I believe they are bringing in 10 new faces, 8 of which are on campus already, including top recruit, Keldrick Faulk. Speaking of Faulk and his edge rushing brethren, it was soooo good to see Bucky hit that spot like an escort service hooker. After Eku went down this year, it was Hall and……Hall.

And again, in the needs addressed department, we obviously saw what they did on the O-line.  The biggest kudo goes to hitting the high school ranks to sign a nice class, for the first time in a long time.  They had no choice but to hit the p-hole hard too, with 4 of the 5 starters leaving the building.  I anticipate an upgrade there, because first, they brought in 3 guys with a ton of experience.  But just as importantly, the 4 that left, sucked. However, I’m tempering my expectations a bit.  I think we’ll be better, but let’s be real. The guys coming in are from Western Kentucky, East Carolina and Tulsa.  However, we also have the #1 JUCO tackle coming in, so I imagine they’ll be able to put a solid line together. Again, any injuries and we’re down to Garner Langlo and Colby Smith.  Who?

I believe the receiver room is going to be a nice surprise, especially with the addition of Nick Mardner from Cincinnati. Anytime you can add a 6’6” wide receiver with tons of experience, you’ve upgraded the group. He had a monster year with Hawaii in 2021, and a not so great one last season.  Don’t know the reason, but he’s a proven commodity.

I still look for them to add a QB, which I seriously hope they do.  Ashford had a few moments, especially on the ground.  Yes, I know he was raw, playing behind a crappy line, and thrown into the fire.  But, I don’t want to go into next year with could be…..or might be…. Sign an insurance policy.

Running backs: Stay away from injuries and this bunch could be reeeeaally good.

Long snapper: Fuck U Free. Do your job.

You need at least 6 in that room.  Damn it, man.  Don't you know it all begins and ends with the long snapper?  Without it, we have nothing. Doomed, doomed I tell ya'.

Where's my Dax Dellenbach Snuggie?

Without Bill Taylor, we would not have had a "solid" 6-4 season in 2020.

Here's an extremely useless trivia question.

On Auburn's current roster, what do players with numbers 0, 0 and 1 have in common?

That's correct.  Johnny, show em' what they've won.
