Great team/big accomplishment
« on: March 21, 2022, 12:25:47 PM »
Most proud of their character and winning the SEC.

Had dreams but as some have pointed out, it started looking bleak toward the end of the season.

Still, I think there are a bunch of great guys on this team. Likable and fun guys.

Pearl stopped by a friend’s tailgate with several a couple of times last football season. I missed each stop but they were a big hit and reportedly acted very nice. Maybe because my friend was giving out 20’s and dope.

I can’t wait to see what we assemble next season. One positive about transfer rules is that you can improve really fast.

We need that one guard that can drain the threes. Hopefully taller than 6'1"!

I recall thinking at one point last year if everyone returns, this could be an incredible upcoming season. But what a difference a year makes.  Guys like Shariff, Thor, Powell etc. went different directions and this year's team looked nothing like the 2021 version.

What will this program look like in 22'- 23'? Well, Jabari will most assuredly be in the show.  Special talent, but I think most would agree he's got a lot of his game he needs to work on.  But, he's young, and if you're a top 5 pick....see ya'.

Zep is the only major contributor who is a senior.  Does he have the extra Rona year available?  I have no idea.  Otherwise, everyone else is a junior or below.  Does Kessler try his luck in the NBA?  I guess that depends on his evaluation.  Sure would be nice to have that guy back in the middle.

Would guys like Cambridge, J Williams, or Cardwell hit the portal to try and be "the man" somewhere else?  I could see it.  We have two incoming freshmenz:

Chance Westry 6'6" 190 Forward.  4*

Tre Donaldson  6'1" 190 Guard  3*

I have a feeling it may be a busy off season, but that may not be a bad thing because with Jabari leaving, you have to look at this bunch and wonder where the scoring will come from.  Should be interesting.

Zep has the rona year and has already said he plans to use it.
Kessler honestly needs another year to refine his game if he wants to make it in teh NBAs, but I suppose if he gets a high enough pick he gone too.
Westry should fill the hole that was there this season at the 3.  Really gonna need a 4 and a 5 from the portal that can contribute a lot.  Cardwell played better this season, but he's not ready for 25+ minutes a game.  Stretch?  He can be a solid backup much like Cardwell was this year.
If Bruce can shore up the 4 and possibly add a 5 with experience and please, please, please get a guard 6'3" or taller that can hit 35% of his 3s...this team can make a lot of noise again next year.

Might I suggest Murray States Tevin Brown.  39.9% career 3 point shooter.

Yohan Traore also decommited from LSU about an hour ago.  He visited us twice during recruiting and we were his last visit.  G League, LSU and AU were his final 3.  Dude is a badass.  6-10, 210lb PF.

Went to the Murray St game this year.  I remember telling my son and wife that he must have been a late bloomer or something because he was too damn good for us to not have recruited him.  He dropped 22 on us and grabbed 9 boards.  Damn right he is good!

I just read on the Twitterverse heard from my sources that AU is in it for Julian Phillips from Missouri.  6-8 200lb F.  #12 player in the nation.

I know that we are short on some scholly's to give out, but you have to take these two if they want to come play, right?

10-4 on that. He’d be a great addition. I think he would have started for us this year.

I don’t get how we missed on him. I don’t think it was anything on the kid’s part. He has an excellent reputation. He wasn’t promoted enough, imo.

But not getting kids out of HS really doesn’t matter as much as it used to. Unless they contribute a lot as freshman and he did.

I haven’t seen him play at Murray. That’s cool that you saw him. Did you know he’s from Alabama?

The kid we never had is going to the NBA (he thinks).

Don’t like losing Cambridge. He had energy.

Not sure why Flanagan lost so much confidence but the kid was an out of control turnover waiting to happen.  Like him but he might need a fresh start.  If not a good head un-fucking is in order.

Kessler was fine usually inside, but got help him if he was more than two feet from the basket.  His hands were made of grease and could not hold on to a ball.

As for the overall?  Fuck yes I’m disappointed.  Falling apart at the end is not a typical Bruce Pearl team.  I think the burden of being #1 and fighting every week to take the regular season title mentally fucked this team.  Be honest. Would you trade a loss to mizzou and Georgia for two or three wins in the SEC-tourney and an elite eight run?   Maybe he learned something.

Team had the opportunity to be one of the best of all time.  It’s not.  Nobody’s going to remember an sec season title in two weeks.

I expect several more to jump in the port hole before it's over.  Cambridge leaving is one huge MEH for me. Other than the occasional highlight reel dunk, the guy was about useless.  He parked himself in the corner and shot highly questionable 3's every time he touched the ball. And he's not a good shooter.  22% from the arc.

Sorry to say it, but I hope Flanigan bounces too.  Have no idea why Bruce kept starting him.  As bad as he was playing, he should have been warming a seat beside Babatunde Akekoli-brother-noomsi.

I like the Westry kid we have coming in.  But I think Pearl is going to have to hit the port hole like a porn star to find some scoring for next year.

I didn't until the game.  We sat in front of his mom and aunt.  Very nice people.  I saw where he is going to enter the draft so he is out but it would have been nice to have had him.  He's a baller.

Agree on Cambridge.
As for Flan, the potential is there for him to finally come back from that injury. Achilles himself did not even get over that injury. So why did you expect Flan to do it so quickly. Physically he was back at the end of the season. But he was not mentally ready. I'll take a chance on him for one more. The upside is too good to trade for an unknown.

I was bitching about Flanigan around 3/4 of the way through the season, and one of the stats nerds showed that, despite not showing up in the scoring column, he was a positive force when on the court.
