My boy's first homecoming game

My boy's first homecoming game
« on: October 18, 2008, 05:00:39 PM »
Fortunately my 10 year old son and I was able to talk my ex into letting him finally play football this year. He has done much better then I anticipated for his first year, but still has a long way to go. They had their homecoming game today.

Some of the boys were screaming for him to kiss the cheerleader he was escorting. It was funny watching him turn red.

He got to play some O-line today after playing nothing but defense all year.

Getting a little blocking advice from some gimpy fat guy.

They have homecoming and wristbands in 10 year old football? I had no idea.

I know it has to be fun to watch him play and be involved in the game.

Were you on the chain gang or is that just a really cool new walking stick?

And the score of the game was....?

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I seriously didn't know pee-wee had homecoming games. Are there 50 year olds that come back home for this game wearing their Lacey Springs Piggly Wiggly Chargers lettermen jackets?

I keed.  :silence:

Congrats on the little baller. Nothing better than Saturdays in the fall with the young cub.

I really have no idea how many youth leagues do a homecoming. I played for the same league and we did it even back then, so I assumed that other leagues do it also. I gave my son a chance to laugh at me when I showed him my homecoming picture when I was 9 years old.

The high school (Danville) had their homecoming game last night, so now they make it the same weekend as the high school so that it is more of a community wide thing. The youth league cheerleaders also cheered with the varsity cheerleaders for the high school game and all the youth league players were encouraged to wear their uniforms to the high school game.

Yeah Steve, that is the new fangled walking stick they gave me. That way everybody sees me coming and gives me plenty of room. Smartass. The neat thing about being on the chain gang is that I can be right there on the ball and basically coach without having to stay within the box that the coaches have to stay in on the sideline.

As for the wristbands, yep, we run a no huddle offense. We actually started out running the spread because that is what the high school team has went too also, and so they were trying to get the kids used to that type of formation. Unfortunately we looked as inept as the AU offense running it, so our QB is back under center with better results. We still suck on defense though. Our boys hit and tackle like gangbusters in practice, but seem to forget how to wrap up during the games. We our 2-5 and probably will finish the regular season 3-5 if the last game next week goes the same way the first time we played that team.

My son has been playing baseball since he was five and baseball is what I played in college, but I admit that I get more fired up for football game days then I do for his baseball games. On the way to the game today, I plugged the iPod into the car stereo, turned up the volume, and blasted AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock" to get both of us fired up.

Nice.  Although you need to mix it up next time....use "Thunderstruck" next time.  It'll make him spit blood.

Funny you say that, because that was my plan for this upcoming Saturday. We have a 9 am game, so it is going to be real fun getting his butt woke up that early to get pumped for a game. I figure I will be playing some stuff real loud in the house while he is getting ready besides what I play in the car on the way.

He practiced with the first team offense this week instead of defense. Coach is trying something different and think Ryan can help make some holes. I don't know how much defense he is going to get to play because of that, but I hope he still gets to play a decent amount on defense. It is much more fun watching him trying to hit the guy with the ball rather then blocking. Oh well, whatever he seems best fitted for and can help the team out I guess. I am just being a selfish dad.

The coach need to be recruiting that girl he is escorting.  She has linebacker shoulders.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Yeah, she is big boned isn't she. From what my son tells me about her, she could probably play. They were basically told who they would be escorting and he was not really thrilled with his selection because he can't stand the girl. That is why the other guys were telling him to kiss here because they knew how much he disliked the girl. Nothing like some good ribbing from you buddies. I actually think he had his sights set on another girl, but would not admit it.
