I'm taking a wait and see approach with CGM. Not that the AU brass give two fickity fucks what I think. The last 3 games have gotten progressively better with regard to play calling, culminating in beating the #1 team, and one of the thorns in our side, with the best play calling I've ever seen under Gus. Georgia has a stout D and they had no clue. They were off balance all night long.
So, who was responsible for that? Was that Gus' game plan? Did he let Lindsey do his thing? Did they work in tandem?
The LSU game was a debacle. It was a coaching melt down. The first quarter looked like this past Saturday night. The last 3 looked just like the first coaching melt down this season, the Clemson game. Two plays. Up the middle or heave it (Try to) 40 yards down field. Were those games the predictions many of us made coming to fruition? Gus not being able to keep his paws off the offense like he promised?
And that's what scares me about the man. Is this recent run Gus reinventing himself for the 8th time since he's been at Auburn? Is this the new Gus, coaching aggressively and pulling out all the stops? Or did the LSU game put him in his place and he turned it all over to the OC? Who knows. Either way, we're #6 and he's our guy. Just wish I knew which one he was.
