Read If You're Having A Shitty Day Part Deux
« on: August 25, 2017, 03:04:06 PM »
Some of this has already been posted or alluded to in other threads. But maybe we could rename this or start another thread with the topic being both Mississippi schools getting gang raped. And $650K from LSU??? :jaw:

From Saturday Down South

The NCAA’s investigation into Ole Miss may be over but the drama surrounding the events revolving around the case heading into the Sept. 11 hearing with the Committee on Infractions continues to rage on in Mississippi.

The latest bit of news comes from Steven Godfrey of SB Nation. In an article published Friday, Godfrey alleges Mississippi State linebacker Leo Lewis took over $21,000 from “multiple SEC programs” leading up to National Signing Day in 2015. If you recall his recruitment, Lewis was committed to Ole Miss but decommitted during the dead period just before signing day.

Following that decision, Lewis obviously signed with MSU over LSU and Ole Miss.

Per Godfrey’s report, attorneys for Ole Miss allege Lewis was paid $11,000 to sign with Mississippi State. While Lewis claims an Ole Miss booster paid him $10,000 during his recruitment.

In exchange for his testimony, Lewis was granted immunity by the NCAA, however, that immunity does not extend to Mississippi State. So if it’s proven the school had any role in the payments, the NCAA would not likely go easy on Dan Mullen’s program.

Another interesting note from the article alleges an audio tape exists of a conversation between Lewis’ mother and former Ole Miss assistant Barney Farrar — Farrar has since been fired from Ole Miss as a result of the NCAA investigation. In the tape, Lewis’ mother alleges to have been offered $650,000 from LSU and $80,000 from Mississippi State during her son’s recruitment. It’s not stated if either statement is factual.

Lewis has been called to appear for the Sept. 11 hearing with the Committee on Infractions. It’s worth noting that Mississippi State will be coming off a Sept. 9 game at Louisiana Tech and preparing for a Sept. 16 game against LSU that week.

Fuck Mullen...

I'd like nothing more than to see them be nuked out of existence.

Well, there are things I'd like more.  There's a list that starts with Gal Gadot, but watching Mullen crash and burn would be fun for me.

$650,000?  I find that very hard to believe.  For that matter, I find even $80,000 very hard to believe.

Watching the 30 for 30 on Marcus Dupree.

Funny to watch somebody from Ole Miss talking about what it's gonna take to get him and tossing money figures out.

Also amazing to think that Marcus, Bo, Herschel and Billy Sims all existed  at essentially the same time in the same space.

And Marcus was the best of the bunch in high school. No joke. He had all the attributes of the other 3 put together. What might have been.

I watched that thinking of the difference in how Dye treated a Bo who didn't much like to practice and how Switzer did the same with a Marcus who didn't either.

Dye realized what he had.  He treated Bo differently.  Switzer, cut from the same old school hard nosed cloth, decided he was going to break his stallion.

Marcus was primed to be ruined.  He'd been pampered, loved on and babied until he got to OU. He also had a gold digging uncle and Ken "Littlefinger" Fairley, a stone cold crook, whispering in his ear constantly. But Switzer definitely ruined the kid.  If he'd played somewhere else?  Texas, USC, hell even Mississippi State or LSU?  He'd have been a national champion, won a Heisman and probably had a 10-12 year NFL career.  But between Fairley and Switzer he was completely ruined.

Agree. It really is a sad story. He's one of the best natural football players I've ever seen. Watching his runs on film - it was just mesmerizing how smooth he was - his stride, his cuts and acceleration. He made it look effortless. And really wasn't taught. Dude was doing it in podunk mississippi pop warner ball. Fukin gifted.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
