Mod note: The racism rule is still in play, despite the current tone of the white house.

^^

This?

Fucking horseshit and not even something Titan would have done back in the day.

The current tone of the White House is absolutely perfect.  It's the tone of the mewling assholes that needs a fucking adjustment.

It's a simple rule: racist remarks/slurs aren't cool.  You're (despite your collegiate allegiance) smart enough to know if something is racist...or even pushing the line.  Frankly, we made a decision long ago to err on the side of blasting things that push the line.  It's a mostly self-policed board and I think we do a good job of observing the rules.

The default position for most of us, however, is "button-pusher" and in the heat of the moment we sometimes let a word/term slip that we know isn't kosher (pardon a bad pun).

I'm speaking solely for myself here, but I would hope that any other mod/admin would agree: we don't accept racial slurs, no matter how comfortable you (the poster, not necessarily you, Token) are throwing them around.

Also, this rule (and its enforcement) predates Trump and was enforced equally during the prior administration.

I get the racial slurs and comments part.  I'm saying I'm still confused as to what constitutes racism here.  Is it hatred of someone based solely on their ethnicity?  Is it hatred of someone based solely on their religious beliefs?

I'm not going to make a racist comment either way being that I'm not a racist.  I'm simply saying that I question what is considered to be racist at times.  With all of the roasting that takes place here on a daily basis, I don't think I've ever seen unadulterated mean spirited racism directed at any one person or in general.  So I'm left wondering what wasn't actually racism but was close enough to prompt edit.  Gray area.

The term used was not racist. Derogatory (maybe), I've been called worse, much worst.

It sounds like you're looking for a bright line test and there isn't one.  We hashed this shit out here years ago and we're not going to revisit/rework the rules to accommodate a new regime.

The term that I took down was offensive.

Kaos, you can fuck right off with the Titan comparisons.

So is retard

There is actually a definition to the word racist. "Offensive" is much more gray. Eye of the beholder.

Fair enough.  I shouldn't have made the editorial comment, but the end result would be the same.

Yeah, I know.  Thus the "no bright-line" statement.  We have hashed this out long ago.

It's an easy rule and it shouldn't be causing this much discussion.

I think Budweiser should stick to making shitty beer.

The one thing I was missing from that commercial was Americans being beheaded, Booosch's family blowing up the World Trade Center, attacking people in the workplace, shooting up malls....  I didn't see Boooosch reading from a "religious" text that demands that he overthrow the infidels and convert them or kill them.

Damn you're stupid and gullible.
So, are you mad that Budweiser was started by a German immigrant or are you just a fucking moron? This commercial is about immigrants coming to America, how some were treated ("you don't belong here, go back to where you came from" were probably your favorite parts of the video), and how some overcame the hatred to build a Empire. Immigrated here legally.

The reason why it might get people talking is because of the first lady illegally working here back in '95-'96.

Notice how nothing was said about terrorists or terrorists organizations, until you brought them up.

I'll let you get back to your hatred of all things not white.

Just so I'm clear, calling any trump supporter a white supremacist (which includes many on here) is ok? That's pretty offensive, false and very racial. Not trying to knit pick but goose and gander and all.

We slog through this same discussion on the rare occasions that a mod takes action around here.

Yes, it's a double standard that you'll have to take up with society.

It's a simple fucking rule guys.  If you need a handy test: ask yourself if you'd a normal, non-X poster would say the word in the company of a person you don't know who fits the stereotype you're blasting.

Most of us wouldn't say a third of the shit we say here in the company of a person we don't know.

I just wish I had seen.  After however many years here, I'm still trying to figure out what is cool and what isn't.  Because I've seen some pretty mean spirited and personal shit get thrown about.
It appears what's cool is super kinky gay Chizzy and Wes stuff and other stuff is racist.
