Thoughts - Week 4

Thoughts - Week 4
« on: September 25, 2016, 10:13:08 AM »
Auburn

- Why can't we just be normal?

- I texted a buddy of mine at the end of the 2nd quarter and said, "Gus is calling a really good game today." But then I read this morning that he let Rhett call all of the plays.

http://i.imgur.com/IyIwfi3.gifv

- Which makes me think about when Rhett was blamed for calling the plays last year and Gus took back over.

- All in all, I'm really happy about the win no matter how it went down. As evidenced by the burning of the tree last night, you can't ever like an SEC foe too much. They all have stupid fucks who have little respect for Auburn. Not to mention, there really should never be a moment as a fan that you want to lose. I want to win. I want to eat crow. I want to look back and say, "Man, I had no idea what Auburn needed to win. Gus did. He's our guy."

- The good last night was that we moved the ball really well against an extremely talented LSU defense. The bad was that we kicked six field goals to win. Same ole same ole since 2014. Gus, Rhett, Kristi, Bobby Lowder - whoever is actually calling plays (and coaching them up throughout the week) needs to get the ball in the endzone. Absolutely ridiculous how bad we are at scoring touchdowns.

- With Miss State nearly losing to UMass, Vandy nearly losing to Western Directional Wherever, Georgia getting blown the fuck out by Ole Miss, and our two patsy cupcake teams left on our schedule - we're probably going to go 7-5 at the worst. Maybe 8-4 since we get Arkansas at home. Perhaps 9-3 if we can catch Ole Miss on an off day. That means we keep Gus for sure for 2017. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe we'll get back on track. Maybe I've been asking too much of Auburn to go out and find a new coach to change our entire philosophy.

- Anyways, my reaction to winning last night was positive. I want to win every game. That's my only thought. I think we're getting better. I don't know what we can do to beat Alabama. But I think we can actually win every game on our schedule if we call plays like we did last night. Play good defense. Get a few scores in the red zone. Just doing that makes me happy because I can still look forward to football Saturday.

**Some of the images wouldn't post so I just linked them. Too lazy to go find more.

This win is likely fool's gold.  Underlying problems are still there.

That said, a W is a W in the SEC.  Sweeter when it's a divisional win.

It's something to build from if the coaches are capable of doing so.

Last night has me excited for Auburn football again! I saw a team that refused to lose and that's the same mentality the old teams of Gus had. I also think Rhett found a groove with play calling in about the 3rd quarter.  This is a reason I have hope he'll find it more with Monroe and we'll be ready for State.  If we can convert on the road against Mississippi state, I'll be happy and glad to take back everything I've said about Gus.

We went toe to toe against a team with more talent and outplayed them, probably enough to even say we were about two TDs better than they were last night. This was more about effort, the play calling was passible but it was still very predictable in the redzone.

This.  Mix things up a little better throughout and put together a damn Jumbo package for short yardage and goal line plays.  Swain would make a nice lead blocker for Pettway.

Lashlee still needs someone to draw up plays inside the red zone.

Jumbo is what we need. We have 5 tackles and a huge tight end type rotting away along with two shelved fullbacks. And seeing as we don't have the wherewithal or pass plays for that area of the field there's really few options other than energize the opposition by virtually stopping ourselves.

Are you talking about the passes attempted on first down? Or the ones that actually made it to the air...
