Smoked by 20 tonight. Never in it from the start. Down 26-11 before the 10 minute mark of the first half and only once, for a brief moment in time did they get it back to 10 late in the second half. Go Gatah in control all the way. No threat.
Don't know the exact percentage but I believe we were shooting right at 20% in the first half. UF was much more talented, athletic, longer etc. but that wasn't the problem. We had numerous good looks at the basket both from three and within 5 feet. This team can't shoot. Harrell and Mason will give you the occasional streak but consistently, this team is awful from the floor.
And the foul line? UGH!!!!!!!!!!! Holy poop, we're bad. As I texted a couple of you...shoot even 40% from the floor and respectable from the line and this is a wild finish. This team is more talented than recent years and they play hard from start to finish. But....Holy damn we have no chance when we shoot like that.
Bowers. I said it before. Please bring in Akeem, Sir Charles...somebody to teach this kid to play under control and have 2-3 "go-to moves" when he gets the ball. Unlimited talent. Just out of control. He could be a 25/12 guy every single night if he'd just get it under control and have a plan when he touches the ball other than all out Tasmanian Devil mode.
Pearl is building something. Unfortunately, this group is going to give us a few great moments but unless a miracle happens where they learn to shoot from the floor and especially from the line, we'll have to hope this next recruiting class brings a huge change.
