Prince Tega Injured
« on: January 20, 2015, 11:23:43 PM »
Per the Twatters: Edgewood star DE Prince Tega just broke his leg per reports playing basketball. Kid just hit the Rivals 250 this week.

Reports say compound fracture on the basketball court.

 :puke:

Apparently this type of horrific break is a repetitive stress fracture. Seen a lot in athletes and military recruits.  First the leg just hurts but nothing shows up on regular XRay. Then one day... It's called "the dreaded black line" because that's what shows up on the bone if you actually get the right kind of diagnostic XRay. If they don't find it, the tibia will finally give way and shatter, usually  resulting in a compound fracture.

I learned about this recently because I work with the father of one of our freshman gymnasts. She started having leg pain and they found the line her sr year of high school. Every college but Auburn dropped her. She opted for surgery to keep the break from happening - so now she has a titanium rod in her leg.  Rehabbed that, but at her first meet for Auburn this year, she tore her Achilles. Poor kid.

Supposedly every school that's offered him has assured him that their offer still stands.

Sucks for the kid.

In football terms, it sucks for us (or whoever gets him) too.  6'8 250 pounds and one year of football.  His film, basketball skills, and athleticism was enough to get him in the Rivals 250.  Tremendous upside and adding 30-40 pounds in a college program could produce the next Calais Campbell or Julius Peppers (two other tall, lanky guys that dominated in college).

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
