You lawyer type always leave yourself an out.

It's not intended to be an out.  I'm just saying until I read the interview, I won't know for sure if he was dead or alive at the time they were talking to him.

My favorite mag, Garden & Gun, is calling their latest "The Music Issue."  Chris Stapleton is featured on the front and they have a piece on "Country Music's New Outlaws."

There's an interview they did with Merle Haggard, presumably before he died....could have been after.  I don't know. I haven't read it yet....and Sturgil Simpson.  They do small pieces on the up an coming country acts/writers like Aubrie Sellers, Parker Milsap, Margo Price, Cale Tyson,  etc. Also lists 6 "Outlaw Albums" that stand the test of time.  AU1 would be interested to know that they give big props to Jason Isbell for being the catalyst for starting what they call the outsider country movement.

I just got the issue and haven't had a chance to read but a few of the write-ups, but I'm looking forward to looking them over and checking out some of theses artists' music.  It appears the whole jist of the feature is looking at artists, both old and new, that don't fit the bro country mold that's been so prevalent the last few years.

And if you X'rs have never checked out this publication, I highly recommend it.

Good Publication.

You should listen to all of those I bolded if you haven't.  I'd also recommend Brandi Clark and Marlon Williams.

I'll vouch for Isbell, Simpson and...maybe...Milsap.

Don't know the rest.  But it is refreshing to hear a country song and not immediately wince at the concept and/or hook.

Ronnie Milsap can play the shit out of that piano. And he can't even see it. Amazing.

15 seconds into this I wanted to go Van Gogh.  And throw up.  It was like tinfoil in a microwave.

There hasn't been anything remotely approximating "good" country music since Kentucky Headhunters.

Everything I've seen posted in this thread falls into one or more of the following categories:  douchester, obnoxious, crass, fraudulent, bro, bubba, twing.

There is no such thing as "good" country music.  Every twangy chord of it is absolute dogshit.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
