The NCAA case is closed, but a separate investigation byNorth Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall has turned up more details regarding the North Carolina football program under Butch Davis. North Carolina is one of 42 states with laws to regulate sports agents, so Marshall launched a probe in the summer of 2010.According to a search warrant unsealed and obtained by the Associated Press, former North Carolina wide receiver Greg Little told investigators that Terry Watson of Watson Sports Agency provided him with a monthly allowance of $2,200, in addition to expenses and other payments, in 2010.Little said that former tutor Jennifer Wiley paid expenses on behalf of the current Cleveland Browns wide receiver with money received from Watson. Wiley was a key figure in the academic portion of North Carolina's two-year football scandal.According to the AP, Little told investigators he was "ready for this chapter of his life to be over and to get on with his life on a clean slate." Little was declared permanently ineligible by the NCAA for receiving improper benefits, playing his last snap as a Tar Heel in 2009. Little's involvement with agents was known before this investigation, this just fills in the blanks for those wondering "how" and "how much."North Carolina received its NCAA sanctions in March 2012. The one-year postseason ban kept the Tar Heels at home in December despite their 8-4 record, and the reduction of scholarships -- 15 scholarships over a three-year period -- is currently ongoing during probation.
