Anyone else see Jordan Mathews last night??
« on: August 30, 2013, 03:05:26 PM »
Guy goes to church with a coworker of mine (from Madison AL).. apparently the only scholarship he was offered was at Vandy, and wanted (but was never offered) one from Auburn.

In the 4th Q, takes a nasty hit after a reception. Then prior to the snap starts puking on the field:

Wonder if he had a concussion.. hits the sideline for the third down. On 4th and 18, guy comes out and converts for the first down. Kid is a BEAST, 10 catches/178 yrds for the night.

Saw this and wondered the same thing. I hope the kid had a stomach virus or the doc tested and ruled it heat related. The head hit the turf hard. I thought concussion after he got up and started motioning to sideline. Then kid keeps playing! He's one tough dude. Wasn't good enough to play for us though. He'll prolly be an NFL famer.

He went back in so fast, I was thinking "no fucking way they had time to evaluate him for a concussion."

He got nailed in the stomach.

I'm betting the emotions of the game, his exhaustion, and probably multiple gulps of gatorade led to this pukefest.

Of course, Matt, Matt, Matt Millen jumped right to hyperbole and said, "puking is the #1 sign of a concussion."  No, fuckhead, it's not.  Just like Laquon Treadwell isn't Dez Bryant, Michael Irving, and Barry Sanders combined.

He took the hit in the stomach but came down hard and slammed the back of his head on the turf, I think that's what they were going off of for the concussion. I can totally see the gatorade theory though.

Regardless.. being able to play like that after massive puking is some tough guy shit.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I believe I referenced the kid in another thread:

definitely lost sleep staying up for that one. Both of these teams give me nightmares. They have the talent to just go off at any time. The Matthews kid for Vandy is a stud. It is shame their game ended on his drop. But damn, the kid already spewed his guts for the team. get him some help. I pray we have a guy step up and put some love on the ball like this kid does.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

"Early on in the third quarter I started experiencing cramps," Matthews told The Tennessean. "First in my legs, then it got up to my back and my arms so it was close to a full-body cramp."

According to the report, he took IV fluids and returned to the game.

"I got hit making a catch on a great throw by Austyn (Carta-Samuels)," Matthews said. "I had a lot of fluids in my stomach from rehydrating and everything, so I probably regurgitated a lot of that and threw up a little bit. But I was able to stay in the game.

Vanderbilt has some really well coached guys.  Obviously they're smarter than the average player, and they execute very well.  Alot of them are simply lacking from a physical standpoint.  Matthews is a baller, though.
