Top 10 AU Targets
« on: August 14, 2013, 03:23:48 PM »
According to Matt Scalici.  Prowlz...AU1....Gurus....what are the almighty skreetz saying about these guys?

1. Ronnie Clark, S/LB, 6-4, 210

The state of Alabama's most versatile athlete is being recruited by both Alabama and Auburn as a safety and has become the focus of the most heated in-state recruiting battle of 2014 so far. Clark, who has the size to play in the front seven with the athleticism and speed to play in the secondary, is looking to take one more visit to each school before making his decision in the next few weeks.

2. Rashaan Evans, OLB, 6-3, 215

Evans has had one of the state's most perplexing recruitment stories to date, with many assuming early on that he would choose the hometown Auburn Tigers only to find Gus Malzahn's program in fifth place on his early list of favorites. Evans has since moved the Tigers into a tie for first with three other schools: Alabama, Georgia and UCLA. Evans' father, Alan Evans, is a former Auburn player but the idea of leaving home for college seems to have a real appeal for the younger Evans. Auburn's performance on the field this year could have a significant impact on Evans' decision.

3. Travis Rudolph, WR, 6-1, 185

Gus Malzahn and his staff are on the lookout for game-breaking wide receivers in this recruiting class and West Palm Beach, Florida playmaker Travis Rudolph fits that bill. The elite wide out has outstanding quickness and agility making him an elusive open field threat while he's also hailed for his polished route running. Florida, Florida State and Miami are all hoping to keep the four-star prospect in-state but Auburn has become a major player in his recruitment.

4. Andrew Williams, DE, 6-4, 247

Auburn has made their way into the top three for this 4-star defensive end along with Clemson and Ole Miss with the opportunities for early playing time on the Plains making a big impression on the elite pass rusher. Williams, who visited Auburn multiples times during the summer, racked up an impressive 28 tackles for loss, including 18 sacks, as a junior last season at Eagles' Landing Christian in McDonough, Georgia and has distinguished himself as one of the top pass rushers this year in a state known for producing some of the nation's best.

5. Elisha Shaw, DT, 6-4, 295

Speaking of monstrous defensive linemen from the Peach State, Tucker star Elisha Shaw has had positive things to say about the Tigers ever since visiting Auburn for Big Cat Weekend this spring. Shaw, who is rated the nation's No. 5 defensive tackle by the 247Composite rankings, has Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia ahead of Auburn on his list of favorites but that could change after an official visit to Auburn this fall for a Tiger home game.

6. Cameron Sims, WR, 6-3, 199

Another big, physical receiver prospect who could pair nicely with current Auburn commit D'haquille Williams, Sims is rated among the top 10 receiver prospects in the nation and is a member of the state of Louisiana's absurdly deep crop of talent in the 2014 class. Sims is also being pursued by Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss.

7. Dante Sawyer, DE, 6-3, 240

Another Georgia pass rusher makes the list as Auburn has made the final cut for this Suwanee native along with Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. Sawyer, who plans to announce his decision in the next couple of weeks, is an aggressive, physical prospect with elite speed off the edge who could make an impact at either defensive end or outside linebacker at the college level.

8. Dantavius Blair, OT, 6-8, 305

Gus Malzahn has not been shy about pulling from the junior college ranks to help fill gaps in his Auburn roster early on and Blair is one of the very best JUCO offensive linemen in the 2014 cycle. Blair plays at Garden City Community College, the same Kansas school that produced Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall, and originally played his high school ball at Anniston High, where he established himself as an elite run blocker.

9. Joshua Casher, OL, 6-1, 300

The St. Pauls star has had an interesting summer. Casher saw his stock soar during the spring after dominant performances on the camp circuit, committed to Auburn in late March, and then decommitted from the Tigers in July. While Casher is actively looking at other schools, including Alabama and Florida State, the Tigers are still a factor and it wouldn't be a shock to see Casher end up in orange and blue after all is said and done.

10. Stephen Roberts, CB, 6-0, 177

Alabama was able to pull one of the nation's top defensive backs right out from under Auburn's nose when the Crimson Tide landed an early commitment from the Opelika star in April. But as the saying goes, it's not over until it's over and there are still plenty of opportunities for Auburn to continue recruiting the star from across town, including the fact that his teammate and good friend Jakell Mitchell is currently an Auburn commit. Roberts remains committed to the Tide but Nick Saban won't be able to land Roberts' signature next February without a fight.
