In the context of this job, somewhat. But I also think you can contractually protect yourself from his flaws too. In this profession and the situation were in right now, I want the person most qualified for the job and that person would be the best coach with the best proven track record. As long as he does his job and well, I could careless how many times he watches porn and wacks off. I don't want to be best friends with him. I want him to build a good fb program. Last time I checked, not being an asshole and liking pussy wasn't part of the job description.
I can drink to this.
One of the reasons that I'm not warm and fuzzy is based on one little incident that happened when he was at AU. I saw him get snippity with Tubbs on the sideline (actually saw it after it had happened, on TV replay). I don't remember the circumstances or anything else about it other than I thought he blew Tubbs off and they both were pissed.
That's crazy--I know. My point is that it's all about PERCEPTION. I perceive Bobby P to be an A-hole with a lot of baggage. His image is bad. Not just because of the affair but it's a conglomeration of stuff. But, if he's the dude and he wins games, helps our guys grow, keeps us outta trouble: I can learn to like the guy.
The one thing that I feel that we need to understand is that if he is the man, we better be ready to pay the price. I'm talking about the heat we will take for hiring him. I think it will be intense.
