AUBURN - For Auburn's deflated football team, t was over quickly and painfully. Texas A&M unleashed its high-speed, high-powered offense Saturday night, and Auburn's defense wilted quickly.

The Aggies led 21-0 by the end of the first quarter, 42-7 at halftime and romped on to a 63-21 victory at Jordan-Hare Stadium. By halftime, the announced many in the crowd of 85,119 was streaming for the exits. By game's end, it had dwindled to almost nothing.
Auburn's defense couldn't stop the Aggies from running or throwing or doing most anything they wanted to do.
Perhaps the most telling play of the game came in the second quarter after Auburn had finally scored on Tre Mason's 1-yard run to cut the lead 28-7. After two holding penalties, the Aggies faced second-and-26 at the Auburn 44. Redshirt freshman Johnny Manziel kept the ball on the option and ran 34 yards for a first down.
When it was finally over, the Tigers had reached new lows in a season of lows.
They'd given up the more points at Jordan-Hare Stadium than any Auburn ever had. They'd given up the most points by an Auburn team anywhere since 1917. They'd tied the biggest margin of defeat for an Auburn team at Jordan-Hare Stadium. They'd set a school record for points allowed in the first half.
The Aggies had 15 first downs before Auburn had one and finished with 34. They rushed for 352 yards and passed for 319 for a total of 671 yards. Redshirt freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel passed for 260 yards and two touchdowns and ran nine times for 90 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Patrick Swope had six catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
Auburn had 124 yards rushing and 211 passing for 335 yards total offense. Tiger quarterbacks were sacked five times.
It was a thorough, humbling and humiliating beating.
Still not two years removed from the national championship, the Tigers fell to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the SEC. They haven't been 1-7 since 1952 and haven't been 0-6 since 1980. No. 22 Texas A&M improved to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the Southeastern Conference.
"I think it would be accurate to say that we couldn't stop their run game," Auburn coach Gene Chizik said."We couldn't stop them from throwing the ball. They punted one time all night, so I think that pretty much tells the story."
Sophomore Kiehl Frazier took over at quarterback when start Clint Moseley suffered an ankle injury and directed an 82-yard drive to Tre Mason's 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. But it was freshman quarterback Jonathan Wallace who gave Auburn what spark it had.
Wallace threw two touchdown passes - a 27-yarder to C.J. Uzomah and a 27-yarder to Emory Blake. He completed 6-of-9 passes for 122 yards and ran 13 times for 71 yards.
Wallace said he saw some energy in his teammates after he hit Uzomah with the first touchdown pass of both their careers.
"It was great," Wallace said. "I thought that play really lifted some guys' spirits. It gave us some momentum and got us back in the game. It was great to score, but it wasn't enough."
Auburn, loser of five straight, will match 1-7 records with New Mexico State for homecoming next Saturday.
