TJ saw it coming...

Jefferson knew we were doomed.

“I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“The end of democracy and the defeat of the American Revolution will occur when government falls into the hands of lending institutions and moneyed incorporations.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“The Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“The purpose of government is to enable the people of a nation to live in safety and happiness. Government exists for the interests of the governed, not for the governors.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as a sorry state as the souls who live under tyranny.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have.”
― Thomas Jefferson

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

It's amazing how much insight people like TJ, Adams, Washington, Franklin and Jackson had over 200 years ago. I still hold that AJ was the most underrated politician in our history.

As a Jeffersonian-Libertarian I love the quotes.

Quote
Nowhere did he indicate that the very least possible government was a matter of principle; rather, he opposed too much government on the grounds of efficiency. He recognized a reasonable role for government in any great nation. Conducting national business by amending the Constitution for needed powers would permit the nation to experiment with various uses of government, but would keep the expansion of power under strict control. Jefferson was opposed to the idea of the courts expanding the constitutional limits, not because those limits should never be expanded, but because that way of doing it would make the Constitution "a blank paper" and strict control would be usurped by a possibly despotic branch of the government that is not even responsible directly to the people.

"Our peculiar security is in the possession of a written Constitution. Let us not make it a blank paper by construction." --Thomas Jefferson to Wilson Nicholas, 1803.

I think the same way of Alexander Hamilton.

As a Jeffersonian-Libertarian I love the quotes.

Speaking as a Hamiltonian-Republican I'm in agreeance.

The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.
-Ayn Rand

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.
-The Right Honourable Margaret Thatcher

The government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem.
-Milton Friedman

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'
-Ronald Reagan

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Yeldon??!?!?

I hope that motherfucker doesn't see it coming.  And I hope it hurts.  Bad.

The way that went down and the unashamed boldness of what's going on in south Alabama?  It's like they know nothing is going to be done to or about it.  Don't even care.  Just blatant.  The old white man army was bragging before and bragging afterward.

Fuck him.  Fuck them.

But, how do you feel about TJ?

I hope he catches the West Nile from fucking a diseased mosquito.

I hope his dick hair catches on fire while he's scrubbing the sorostitute he's provided.

I hope he gets hit so hard every time he touches the ball that a little piece of his soul flies out of his nostril.

I hope he takes such punishment that his spleen falls out of his ass.
