Speaking of alcohol - What's in bourbon?

I looked up the nutrition info on 1 shot of bourbon, and it's about 100 calories.  However, there are no carbs in bourbon. 

So if it's not carbs, not fat, and not protein, where do the calories come from?

Doesn't alcohol convert to a sugar?  There's your empty calories.

Like I give a shit. If it's a choice between putting every one of those 15 pounds back on, or being sober for the clusterfuck on Saturday?  Call me Fatty McFaterson.

Calories from alcohol can be tricky due to multiple things, including whether you're a moderate drinker (one to two drinks a day) or a heavy drinker.  When consumed in "excess," the body essentially wastes calories from alcohol by turning them into heat as a means of ridding the body of the excessive toxins.

What's the takeaway from that?  Always drink heavily.

Been trying to mix up the workouts lately...do something different and not get stale.  Yesterday after church, I took the mountain bike to one of our rec centers here.  There are two tracks, one for running/walking and one for biking.  They are both 5K.  Made 3 hard rounds on the bike and in between each, I'd get off and jog a half mile. 

Doesn't sound like much but I hadn't done anything like that in quite a while and my legs were hating me the rest of the day and night.  I'm trying to think of more new things to do while I don't have any specific goal in mind.  I've watched a lot of Crossfit recently and am thinking about incorporating some of the things they do.  But, I know full well I'll never get totally involved in Crossfit.  I have no idea how those people aren't all in back and knee braces.  Maybe because they're half my age?  Naaaa...

No doubt. I used to have a heavy bag and gloves. Just throwing punches at the bag for a minute will get you incredibly winded.  I'd work up a routine in the garage where I'd hit the bag...do jump rope...push ups/sit ups...some dumbell work and start the round over. 

Would love to take a class.

I stepped on the scale this morning and hit 219...I have to stop the insanity!

Hit the gym at 5:00 a.m. for a light cardio session.  Will hit teh weights this evening.  Gonna' try and start back with a few morning cardio workouts added to my routine because that's where I make the most gains/losses. Still refuse to step on the scales because my weight fluctuates so much daily and I get depressed if I don't see what I want to see.  The diet is in place.  The alkeyhawl is kicking my sorry ass and holding me back.  I could be a contender if it wan't for the buzzes.

Here is an update.  My knee sounds like that tearing noise when twisting off a tree limb.  It hurts when I plant on it and it hurts when I turn in another direction on it.  I drank a shit ton of bourbon the past two weeks, but hey, they are empty calories, right?  I am at 215 and I don't see it getting any better until my knee stops hurting. 

Oh, wait, you wanted something where someone was actually doing good.  My bad.

I stepped on the scale yesterday and weight 165.
