Small batch bourbons

Definitely a different taste, but I like.

Blanton's is definitely a quality bourbon. It's a bit on the pricey side around these parts, @$50 for a fifth. It's not in my regular rotation, it's more of a splurge for me.

There are 6 or 8 different corks to collect that have the horse and rider in different riding positions. If you get drunk enough, or perhaps ingest a hallucinogen, your cork collection will appear to trot across the room.

Since you all are the gurus of bourbon -

When does Pappy Van Winkle release its product?  And where could I grab a bottle?  I'd be willing to drive anywhere.

I've grown in love with bourbon.  I have not yet tried anything high end though.  Jim Beam is my drink of choice because I can afford it regularly.  They had a sample of Devi's Cut with the bottle I bought yesterday.  It's incredible and is making drinking regular Jim Beam seem less enjoyable.

I contend that this is one of the best cheaper bourbons made.  $190 a case

Yea.  Six bottles to the case and usually save about 10% - 15% in doing so.  If I am going to buy it anyway might as well save $ doing so.

Did not know that part. All my cases contain 24.

Ok so to expand you knowledge base...

Case of beer = 24

Case of wine = 12 or 6 depending on who packages it.  Which means you need to ask when you are buying it this way because what you think is a good deal may not be.

Case of bourbon = 6

This is pretty good for the price as well.  Never priced a case but is usually $25/bottle.

Usually March and November.  Good luck finding any.  I got a call from the ABC store telling me that they had zero bottles and that private liquor stores got all the stock.  Called one of them up and they started selling at noon on a Tuesday and to get there early.  I got there at 11:45 and was one of many who didn't get there in time to get a bottle.  I was probably 40th or so inline and getting only 3 cases of each they sold out before I could get any.  Luckily the ABC store called me back and said they got 3 bottles of the 10 year Old Rip Van Winkle and the 12 year Van Winkle Special Reserve.  She held one of each for me long enough for me to drive from work and pick them up.  The 15, 20 and 23 is hard to get and I have never seen the Family Reserve Rye at any place in Alabama.

I like it.  It's smooth and cheap.  I have been on a Elijah Craig kick here lately and has been my go to for about three or four months now.

Appreciate the recommendation; I'll look for it at Total Wine & More tomorrow...or tonight...always like to try a new bourbon and I'm in agreeance with Uncle Sani about Old Forester; very good quality for the price.

The 10 year isn't one from that line that gets talked up too much.  Mostly the 15, 20 and 23.  I agree it is about the same level as Woodford.  It's a good 10 yr bourbon for $42 (what I paid for it), nothing more, nothing less.

Out of the Van Winkle line I would much rather have the 15 than any of it.

We got some of the Pappy 20 in Vegas a couple of trips ago...while St. Richt was choking away the SECC.

It was delicious awesomeness.

But I was pretty fucking drunk by then.

I got a bottle of Blanton's on Saturday and man, oh, man...that is some smooth drinking goodness.  Really nice stuff, but at that price it fuckin oughtta be.
