Why Trotter?

Why Trotter?
« on: October 12, 2011, 03:03:45 PM »
I'll tell you why Trotter:

Because Emory Blake, Trovon Reed, and Jared Cooper are out against Florida.

Because Florida gives numerous looks on defense and blitzes with fast, athletic linebackers.

Because Reese Dismukes is still a true freshman and because Ryan Pugh played right tackle his true freshman year.

Why not Frazier?

Because Frazier still doesn't grasp the offense.

Because Frazier can't read the field.

Because Frazier is a true freshman and because Kodi Burns was thrown to the fire as a true freshman.

Because Frazier will die against Florida.

And most importantly...

Because Auburn plays @LSU next week.

Trotter is our whipping boy.  He'll help us struggle against Florida, and the coaches will pray the home crowd stifles Florida's offense.  However, he'll still look like a oppossum on the interstate, and we'll bitch and moan about his performance.

We'll probably start to claw eyeballs out if we lose to Florida.  We'll wonder where the coaches heads are.  Why they aren't trying something different.  Why our offensive gameplan steps on eggshells and why our team is continually getting outplayed.

Because LSU at Tiger Stadium looms.  And unless something comes together, it'll be a field day for the LSU defense.  And God forbid we let a true freshman get his first start - or worse depending on Saturday: his second start - against a top defense playing at home.

Frazier would die in flames.  And he'd be ruined for the year and possibly longer.  And our expectations of him would die and we would nitpick like we always do.

So we'll wait for Ole Miss.  Trotter now.  Frazier later.

We'll wait until Trotter either miraculously comes through as the future (he won't) or dies in flames against Florida and LSU (he will).

Then we ease Frazier into the role of the starting quarterback for Auburn against Ole Miss at home.  We give him a tough battle at Georgia.  We let him flourish against Samford.  And we introduce him to a top SEC defense against Alabama.

Then we prepare for next season.

So when Trotter overthrows receivers, drills an off-target ball to a man in the flat, scrambles in slow motion around the field, and fails to deliver as the starting quarterback, just know that it's all for Frazier's future which begins on October 29th, 2011.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
