It's not that the trees will die.  They're living things, they'd eventually die and have to be replaced anyway. 

You're going to die, too.  But if somebody kills you I'm not going to accept it.  If they kill you because an entire culture bred them to hold a hate that strong?  I'm going to blame the culture.
