I'm actually a little bit disappointed with last nights episode. It took a whole hour...

Actually, I thought the first 15 minutes were awesome, until I realized that I was on the wrong channel watching Desperate Housewives.  Those women are more decisive and have bigger ballz than the zombie-like characters in The Walking Dead.  Aside from that, the show was a bit better last night.  It still wasn't as good as I would have expected.  Still littered with an ample supply of touchy-feely soap opera crap...  More character development...  Relationship turmoil...  Baby drama...  And blah-blah-blah...  Oh, and as Tarheel suspected, we now have TWO bed-ridden characters. 

Like others have suggested, I would find it more entertaining to see some of the characters that we've grown to hate get eaten or shot by someone else.  When the zombies were after Lori, I was rooting for the zombies.  When the Philly gang was shooting at Rick, Glenn and Herschel, I wasn't sure who I wanted to win more...  the gang from Philly or the town's walker population.   The walkers should have won. 

I might watch it next week...  Maybe.

I thought it was pretty awesome.  All that depth and sharing and character development and hugging it out.  Why fuck all that up with blood and guts and gunfire and zombies and confrontation?

No.

With the exception of the first 12 minutes of run time (and that's counting the 2 minute "Mass Effect 3" Preview Commercial which was the most exciting action this week) this:

was pretty much that episode in a nut-shell.

The attack in town and the zombie attack on Lori's car and the Doc standing up to Shane were the only high marks. 

  Of course there was the gripping and intense action of the girls sharing a tender moment around Beth's bed (who is still catatonic).  Then the melodramatic confrontation between Carol and Darryl.  Then Shane "rescuing" Lori after she'd already rescued herself...oh, then he lied to her about Rick being back...WOW...what a roller-coaster moment of intensity.  Then the BIG reveal by Shane about Lori's pregnancy!  O. M. G.  Followed by Lori having to talk to little Carl about his new baby sibling on the way.  Then the unrelenting excitement of Shane telling Lori that what he did to Otis was because of his love for her.  And Glenn telling Maggie that he did what he did because of his love for her...and, as if that wasn't enough action we got to see Lori poisoning Rick against Shane.  What a stunning maneuver!  I was on the edge of my seat! 

Yes, I was rooting for the zombies to eat Lori.  She's a manipulative, uber-dramatic cow.  I'm with dj and Kaos on her departure.

I'm critical about entertainment.  If I'm going to invest the very expensive commodity of my entertainment time in a tv program then it better be worth it.

Maybe it'll get better.  Next week's episode looked a little more exciting in the previews.

British actor David Morrissey has been cast as The Governor in the hit zombie series "The Walking Dead," AMC said Friday.

If you're a fan of the comic, you know who the Governor is.  If you've never picked up the comic, the Governor was voted #86 on the top comic book villains of all time.  He's the kind of guy that would put tomatoes on a sandwich, and then yell "roll tide."

You think so?  I found the women-folk of the show particularly annoying.  One contemplating suicide...  One bitching about Glenn...  One blaming men for everything...  Just more needless and boring blah-blah drama.  The whole thing between Rick and Shane was weak as well.  If they were serious about taking the alpha role (funny with me commenting on this), either one of them could have done so by truly overpowering or killing the other.  It seems that we have two betas in a bitch-slapping contest struggling for power.  Pansies...

Nah, much better than the last two weeks. Sure it had its leaking vagina moments but I was glad to so more zombies getting ruffed up. I would have liked to see Rick cut Shanes leg off though and leave him for a Zombie snack.

I came to the conclusion last night that the zombies exist merely to drive the emotional hysteria of the show.  They're nothing more that set pieces designed to create situations where navel gazing is required.  After they killed Amy early in Season 1 (a sad state of affairs because she was at least pleasant to look at) have you at any time felt that any of the primary characters (save for the drawn out Sophia affair) were in the least bit vulnerable?

This is not a show about surviving the zombie apocalypse or even how one might go about living and dying in a zombie infested world (Zombieland did that so, so much better). 

This is, at its core, a prime time soap opera that uses zombies in the same way Dallas used oil, Knots Landing used adultery and Grey's Anatomy uses hospital beds.  All the zombies do is set up the next emotional confrontation between its antagonists. 

The "kill the boy" plot is asinine.  Glen found Rick in a tank in Atlanta.  Did they kill him?  No they took him back to the camp.  Stupid and utterly unrealistic. 

I'm gravely disappointed with the turn this series took in this extended season two.  The first season, while lacking in some respects, was far superior to this zombie soap.
