I will drink to that....although McCalebb picked it up some before halftime....

D gave up 125 total yards in the 1st half....lets keep it up. Outstanding gameplan by Roof thus far.

um. no.

McCaleb falls without anyone touching him. If we had a running back worth a shit, we would be bad ass...

Deep thoughts....
« Reply #42 on: September 09, 2010, 09:27:32 PM »
My thoughts on the first half:

1.  I should have bought more beer.
2.  McCaleb is a half-bubble off being awesome.  I think he needs some new shoes or something, keeps tripping over his own feet.  I was a big fan when I saw him early last year, then he kind of hit the freshman wall.
3.  Hope you guys have a good back up QB, Malzahn seems determined to get Cam a concussion.
4.  Mostly I thought your offense looked good, didn't understand why Malzahn didn't attack with more than two minutes left before the half.  Also didn't understand the play calling when you got the ball on the 4.
5.  Couple questionable calls, do they not call inelligable (too many beers) receiver down field when the whole team takes off before the punter kicks the ball anymore?  Was that a rule change or a bad  call?  Also, when they fumbled the ball over the goal line, is that only a touchback in the NFL and not colllege?  To lazy to look up the rules.
6.  I hate cowbells.

A few halftime observations....

1.  The second series near the goal line?  WTF was that?  3 straight QB reads to McCalebb?  Didn't understand that series.

2.  Although I'm certain you fuckers won't agree, Cam needs to quit taking so many hits.  He's a force in the open field and has made great decisions every time he's decided to run, but fuck.  He's getting up slower and slower after every hit.

3.  Nick Fairly is having a hell of a game.  The interception was a thing of beauty.

4.  Defense looks better.  I still haven't seen any great blitz calls, but the front 4 is getting such a deep push, there really isn't a need to send LBs or DBs.  I've still noticed a few bad pursuits and more than a few arm tackles.

5.  Kodi Burns doesn't need to throw the ball.

6.  Kodi Burns needs to learn how to block down field.

7.  Kick coverage has been perfect.  I mean perfect.

8.  So much for MSU fans not ringing those dumb ass bells while the opposing team is on the LOS.  As if ANYONE thought that shit would really happen.

Overall, it's going how I expected.  Offense doesn't look as explosive, defense doesn't look as inept.  Unless Auburn completely fucks itself with turnovers, they'll win this game handily.

Picked up 3 1st downs.....falling or not. He looked better towards the half than he did in the 1st quarter.

Apparently our offense has become very predictable, or they have stolen our offensive signals, because they seem to sure know what the heck we are about to run.

1 step forward, 2 steps back in every phase of the game.  We look great one play and suck ass for 2 more.

Have they updated Ziemba's condition?

It's not been a pretty game...but there's some positives...including that double pass.  Pugh laid some wood!  Fr. Dyer, taking the game over courtesy of the OL, and nice play calling.

Completely opposite game for our offense and defense this week...offense was questionable and defense played tough for the most part.

I do have a problem with the way our defensive backs are covering the WRs. It seems like they don't know how to look for the ball once they see the receiver look up for it. I saw it a lot in both games. Are our coaches coaching them to do that? On that PI call, if our man looks back, there is no PI call because he could have went for the ball.

That was a bullshit cal. He did look back. It's hard to run with your back to the sideline like that and look back any better than Thorpe did right there.

However, Thorpe got bailed the fuck out when that dude missed the ball.

And....great fucking defensive call on the last 4th down. They had been playing a press coverage the entire series and then dropped back into a zone. It confused the shit out of the offense and they had no chance...
