I do think there are links to global events that are tied to the hand of God. I also know that there are some out there that stretch to make a connection between the natural and the spiritual. This particular event, I get the feeling that it is a stretch. I will say however, it is important for the US to stay buddies with Israel.

So we should stay buddies with Israel because we should be scared that hand of God will come down and kill us all? Or because it is the right thing to do and they have been our allies for generations?

I think this is a stretch and a coincidence.  I've heard quite a few conspiracy theories on the Deepwater Horizon accident but I'm convinced it was an accident.  Just that.  Occam's Razor.

Do you think Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans because of all the sin in that city too? What about the earthquake in Chile? What did they do wrong? How about Haiti? Why hasn't a major natural disaster hit Iran or North Korea?
