Aubie knows!
By: Snaggletiger
Saturday was significant for me in a lot of ways while watching pregame festivities, the game itself and my time around Auburn following the game. Thankfully, this was one of those afternoons that we as Auburn fans, could sit back and take in the entire atmosphere without much stress as the opponent was one that should be easily handled. They were. The outcome was clear less than five minutes into the contest and much of the remainder was spent watching Auburn’s football future get as much playing time as possible. However, it was what happened before and after the
game that made me realize that as an Auburn fan, I needed to live in this moment and not take anything for granted.

It’s what keeps college football interesting. The unpredictable outcomes of what seems to be predictable matchups is what keeps butts on the seats and eyes on the TVs. It’s why there are 40 hours of college football analysis throughout the week – someone is trying to make sense of it all. It’s why coaches have to gameplan 7 days a week and players have to practice every possible second.
Unpredictable and unbelievable.
Auburn…
- Unpredictable – South Carolina has (had) the SEC’s #1 rushing defense. The experts look at this statistic and say, “Auburn will have a difficult time running the football, and they’re going to have to rely on Cam Newton’s arm to have a shot at winning.” 335 yards later, I’d say we crushed the heart of their defense.

So will the 2010 Auburn defense be a steel curtain like they were against Alabama or a wet paper towel like they were against Northwestern?

The 2009 Auburn Defense suffered from a great lack of depth. That was the buzz phrase last year. It was true, but there was an overall lack of SEC level talent too.
That lack of depth was compounded by an offense that was either quick strike or quick three and out. Yes, the offense does contribute to the overall effectiveness of the defense, and vice versa. Still, Auburn’s defense was just plain bad in 2009. Injuries played a big part, but so did just plain lack of players.

Chizik Looking Quite Bookish
by: jadennis
I was shocked when Chizik was hired. It was the kind of thing that would ruin my day out of nowhere. I would be going along through a day, doing fine, then remember we just hired Chizik, and I would get chest pains.
That lasted a few days. Then I used my brain, and not my heart, because honestly, my heart had no business feeling at this point…it didn’t have anything to really go on. I realized how many great hires had turned poopty over the years. I remembered how many “who the hell is that” hires had turned golden.
Many have said how good of a hire Charlie Strong is for Louisville. Many even wanted him to get a shot at Auburn. Isn’t he Ron Zook? I mean, Zook did a good job at Florida as an assistant coach. Zook only looks like a failure of a head coach hire NOW that we know better. We deem Strong a good head coach hire….thing is, as of NOW, we don’t know any better.
