Trotter looking forward to 1st road game

Trotter is ready for a trip away from home.

Going on the road is no big deal for junior quarterback Barrett Trotter.

Sure, he’s never had to start a game away from home in his Auburn career, but he likes the “us against the world” feeling that comes with playing in a hostile stadium.

“There’s no better feeling knowing that your team went in there with however many guys — 60-70 guys — and pretty much defeated however many thousands of people in there,” Trotter said. “That’s a good feeling.”

Trotter and the No. 21 Tigers get to test that mentality out for the first time this season Saturday, when they travel to take on Clemson.

It will be the first road trip for the Tigers’ bumper crop of true freshmen, who have cut their teeth at Jordan-Hare Stadium over the past two weeks.

Greene works his way back into fold after injury

Senior AJ Greene, found his way back out onto the field vs. MSU.

If he had his choice, A.J. Greene would never again watch tape of the play that cost him his junior season.

The senior tackle doesn’t want to see the play against Clemson last Sept. 18 in which he got rolled up in a pile at the line and bent backward awkwardly, breaking the tibia and dislocating the ankle on his left leg — an injury that required 12 screws, a plate, two wires and months of rehab to correct.

But he couldn’t stay away from it forever. Especially during ESPN’s wall-to-wall draft coverage.

“They show it on ESPN all the time. I saw it on accident one time,” Greene said. “I was looking at it and I think (former Clemson and current Tampa Bay Bucs defensive end) Da’Quan (Bowers) was on the left side and he got a sack on the left side, but that was the same play I broke my leg.

Auburn Positives

McCalebb has shown time and again that even at 170 pounds he is a force in the SEC

#1. We got a W vs a team many had us losing to.  And, MSU is a legit team, but they’re also still MSU.  They may win 9, but they could also be a 6-6 team…doubt it, but they could be.  We got their very best Saturday, and they came up short.

#2.  59 total Off. snaps, 35 points.  Not bad.  This offense is ahead of schedule.  They’re not hitting on all cylinders yet, and still scoring points.  That was a pretty good, very fired up, and very physical defense Auburn faced.

#3.  The OL looked much more cohesive in week 2.  Definitely not on par with last year’s veteran group, but way far ahead of where I expected them to be this early.

SEC play is here: Time to man up

SEC Play has Arrived

It’s here.

The “Man’s League” finally begins.

Ready or not.

And for Auburn’s youth, there are no more dress rehearsals. No more scrimmages. No more simulations.

It’s here. Conference play. The Man’s League. The SEC.

And what better (or worse, depending on how you see Saturday’s game shaking out for Auburn) way to start off league play than against a team that exemplifies what the conference is all about?

Say what you want about Mississippi State. Sure, it hasn’t been the most successful program in the history of the conference. But one thing’s for sure: the Bulldogs will hit you in the face. Multiple times. Very, very hard.

No matter the record, coach or venue, State brings it.

Saturday in Jordan-Hare won’t be any different. If anything, against Auburn — a team they almost beat at home last year in the second game of the season — the Bulldogs will pack an extra punch.
