AU Softball: LSU snags 2 from Auburn

The 23rd-ranked LSU softball team swept the 25th-ranked Auburn Tigers in a doubleheader Wednesday at Jane B. Moore Field, taking Game 1, 7-3, Game 2, 1-0.

Auburn fell to 32-14 overall and 11-11 in the Southeastern Conference with the two losses. LSU improved to 28-15 overall and 10-9 in the SEC.

In Game 2, LSU pitcher Rachele Fico threw a complete-game three hitter to improve to 11-9. Fico fanned seven and did not issue a walk.

Angel Bunner took the loss in a complete-game effort to fall to 11-5. Bunner allowed one run, earned, on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

LSU scored the game’s only run in the top of the first inning when Juliana Santos doubled with one out and came around to score on a two-out single to right by Ashley Langoni.

In Game 1, LSU used a five-run third inning to come away with a 7-3 victory.

Brittany Mack earned the complete-game win for LSU to improve to 11-5.
