AU FOOTBALL: Tigers pick up 6th verbal commitment

#6 WDE Chris!

Another in-state recruit has said yes to Auburn.

Sweet Water linebacker Chris Landrum said he intends to sign with the Tigers next February, according to all three recruiting service websites that cover Auburn — AuburnSports.com, Inside The Auburn Tigers and AuburnUndercover.com.

Landrum, 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, gives Auburn six verbals so far for the Class of 2011.

According to AuburnSports.com, Landrum is projected to be one of the state’s top prospects after a stellar junior season that saw him rack up 68 tackles, including 12 sacks. Landrum was named a Class 1A first-teamer by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

Landrum told AuburnSports.com that he initially thought he was going to sign with Alabama, but after being recruited by Auburn, he had a change of heart.

“When I first started the recruiting process, I was pretty sure I was going to Alabama, but I had never been to Auburn,” he told AuburnSports.com. “When I went to Auburn, just being around the people at Auburn I realized they are great people and people I want to be around for the next four years of my life.”

Landrum joins Gadsden City’s Anthony Swain as the first two linebackers to commit to Auburn for 2011. Also in that class are Spanish Fort O-lineman Reese Dismukes, Pope (Marietta, Ga.) O-lineman Thomas O’Reilly, Bear, Del., defensive tackle Angelo Blackson and JUCO athlete Izauea Lanier.
